Our methodology
The AI Girlfriend is an independent English-language comparison site for AI companion apps. This page explains what we do, what we don’t do, and how the site makes money.
What we check
- Language: is the interface available in your language (menus, billing, support), or does only the chat understand it?
- Advertised features: chat, images, voice, video, memory, anime style, character creator, as described by the publisher.
- Adult content: allowed or not, according to the terms of service.
- Price: displayed entry price, whether tokens or credits exist, cancellation terms. When a publisher hides its prices until signup, we say so and cite dated third-party findings.
- Publisher: company, country, legal notice.
What we don’t do
We don’t publish ratings “measured” over dozens of hours of testing we never did. We don’t make up testimonials, statistics, or quotes. The ranking reflects how many verifiable criteria an app meets for an English-speaking user, not a scored impression.
Verification dates
Each review shows the date of the last check on the official site. Prices are in US dollars unless stated otherwise and change with promotions.
Funding
The “Try it” buttons are affiliate links: if you subscribe after clicking, the publisher pays us a commission, at no extra cost to you. Apps without an affiliate program (Replika, Character.AI) are listed anyway.
How partnerships affect the ranking. The ranking starts from the verifiable criteria above (language, features, prices found, publisher). Apps we have an affiliate partnership with (as of 10/01/2026: Candy AI, Lovescape, and OurDream AI) may be placed higher and featured in our callout boxes. Published facts (prices, language, limits, public reviews) are never changed because of a partnership.

Audience
This site is for adults only (18+). Some of the apps we compare offer explicit content; we flag it on each profile.
